It's an unfortunate thing, but not all of us are born scratch golfers. While many of us wish we were, the reality about golf is that it's a game of finesse, that involves making a lot of unnatural feeling movements. Swing mechanics are a part science part art, and the perfect swing quite possibly doesn't really exist, so with all that there should be no question that all amateur golfers could use some form of instruction.
Golf Videos are quickly becoming the number one choice for to increase golf performance. Why? There are several reasons, but more then likely the biggest reason is that ease of acquiring the knowledge, combined with the cost. You can spend $40 on a private lesson to learn the correct golf stance or you could spend $35 on a quality golf dvd that teaches you everything about swing mechanics from stance to follow through.
I personally improved my golf game by using golf videos, so I have some first hand experience with it all. How ever I want to make one thing clear, I'm not suggesting that golf lesson videos are a perfect replacement for one-on-one instruction from a golf professional. How ever for many with limited money and time to spend on instruction and practice golf lessons aren't always the best option.
If you're seeking a better understanding of the golf swing there's no question you can enroll for some golf lessons and learn all there is to know. How ever that's going to take time away from home or work, money for each lesson, and you'll only be able to practice what your learn when you're actually on the course. For me it made for sense to research a quality golf instructional video, watch it all the way through then break it down into manageable pieces. I would watch each golf video lesson, then try to get out to the practice range once or twice a week to practice the points I'd learned. While it wasn't instant gratification I was able to learn a lot more at my own pace and save a lot of money on golf lessons.
There is a growing catalog of golf videos available, and the Internet has helped fuel the growth of this industry by allowing numerous golf pros and instructors to get in on the industry due to low costs of product creation, marketing and shipping. I'll keep my “pitches” to a minimum here but there are three products I do want to mention.
Pure Point Golf
The first is a complete line of golf instructional DVDs produced by the Pure Point Golf Academy. Their product offering is up to six different golf dvds now, each one covering a particular part of the game. This is the particular product I bought myself, and the one I used to lower my average score 15 strokes. Pure Point offers a Full Swing, Short Game, Driver, Putting, Bunker Play, and How to hit a draw DVD. Each dvd follows the same format which is made up of smaller lessons within the entire DVD so you get a complete overview of the topic, and are taught smaller pieces of the overall skill you can practice. Below is a sample clip from the Bunker DVD that was just recently released.
Online Golf Videos
The second product I want to mention is a series of online golf videos. This is a newer product, and while I've watched some of the videos I cannot say how they affected my game as I already had a firm understanding on most of what I watched. How ever the unique feature about this product is that it's on demand. Meaning you don't have to order and wait for something to ship, because you can watch it streaming online right away. This is a newer service and is focused on how to, and improvement videos. The website is TotalVid.com.
Ledbetter Golf Videos
The last product I want to mention is probably the most talked about Golf video series ever created. The product is the David Leadbetter dvds. The world renowned golf educator David Leadbetter has a few DVD's to his name, the most recent being the Ledbetter Interactive Golf videos. Like the Pure Point line it's goal is to give you a firm understanding of the over all golf swing and help you become a more consistent player. I don't have anything negative to say about this system, how ever I liked the fact that I was able to purchase the Pure Point DVDs one at a time rather then a complete set. It was a little easier on the wallet.
Now if you're searching for free golf videos, your still in luck. Our weekly golf newsletter offers subscribers at least one free golf instruction video each week. Each week you'll receive one of our golf video clips covering a particular point of the game. We like to try and structure our newsletter so that if we can provide two or three golf video tips about the same topic we'll send them all to you in the same week. It's well worth the price which is nothing, and the majority of our golf videos are presented by the head golf professional from Pure Point Golf mentioned above. So if you're not sure about any of the products we've talked about above, take the time to sign-up for our newsletter and test drive a few tips and discover how golf videos work for you.
